Terms of Use

Please read these terms carefully before using lern.life or any of its portals.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using lern.life or any of its sub-domain portals (including uni.lern.life, pharma.lern.life, school.lern.life, and redcross.lern.life), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you are accessing the platform on behalf of an organisation (a school, university, employer, or other institution), you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the platform.

2. The Service

lern.life provides an AI-powered education platform comprising two primary portals:

  • Teacher / Manager Portal: AI tools for educators to create curriculum content, generate assessments, build video lessons, design career pathways, and monitor student progress
  • Student Portal: AI tools for learners to receive tutoring, practise with quizzes, review assignments, prepare for interviews, and build career-ready profiles

The platform is available as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) subscription. Access is granted based on your role (student, teacher, or administrator) and your institution's subscription plan.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice. We will notify active users of significant changes by email or in-platform notification.

3. Accounts and Registration

  • You must provide accurate, complete, and current registration information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • You must notify us immediately at hello@lern.life if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
  • One account per person — sharing accounts or credentials between multiple users is not permitted
  • Accounts created on behalf of students by institutional administrators must comply with the institution's data protection obligations
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use lern.life only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You must not:

  • Use the platform to submit, upload, or generate content that is illegal, harmful, defamatory, discriminatory, or sexually explicit
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts, data, or to lern.life's systems or infrastructure
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to scrape, harvest, or extract data from the platform
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the platform
  • Use AI-generated outputs from lern.life to deceive others — for example, by submitting AI-generated work as your own in academic contexts where this is prohibited by your institution's policies
  • Use the platform to train, fine-tune, or improve competing AI models without explicit written consent from lern.life
  • Introduce malicious code, viruses, or other harmful material
  • Impersonate another person, teacher, or institution
  • Use the platform in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it, or interfere with other users' access

Academic integrity is your responsibility. lern.life's AI tools are designed to support learning, not to circumvent it. How you use AI-generated outputs in your institution's academic work is governed by your institution's policies, not lern.life's.

5. Content You Upload

When you upload content to lern.life (including course materials, assignment submissions, documents, and images), you grant lern.life a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and use that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

  • You retain ownership of all content you upload
  • You confirm that you have the right to upload the content and that it does not infringe third-party intellectual property rights
  • We do not use your uploaded content to train our AI models or any third-party AI models
  • You must not upload content that violates copyright, contains personal data of third parties without their consent, or is prohibited under applicable law

6. AI-Generated Content

lern.life's platform generates content using large language models and other AI technologies. You should be aware that:

  • AI-generated content (lesson plans, quiz questions, feedback, interview responses, resumes, cover letters) may contain errors or inaccuracies. You should review all AI-generated content before relying on it or submitting it
  • AI tutoring is a learning tool, not a certified educational or professional advisor. It should not replace qualified teacher instruction
  • AI interview coaching provides practice feedback, not career or legal advice
  • AI-generated headshots are produced for professional presentation purposes only. They are not official identification documents
  • Where AI generates content that could constitute professional advice (medical, legal, financial), you must seek qualified human professional guidance

lern.life is not liable for decisions made on the basis of AI-generated content without appropriate human review.

7. Intellectual Property

All software, designs, trademarks, AI models, and platform features are the intellectual property of lern.life or its licensors. You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute the platform or its components
  • Use lern.life's name, logo, or brand in any way that implies endorsement without written consent
  • Create derivative works based on the lern.life platform

The "lern.life" name and logo are proprietary marks of lern.life. All rights reserved.

8. Subscriptions and Payment

  • Access to the platform requires a valid institutional or individual subscription as described on our pricing page
  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at sign-up
  • Free access is granted to qualifying meritorious, economically disadvantaged students at lern.life's discretion or through institutional arrangements
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date
  • Refunds for subscription periods already commenced are not provided except where required by applicable consumer protection law
  • Prices may change with 30 days' notice for month-to-month subscribers and at the next renewal date for annual subscribers

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by English law:

  • lern.life is provided "as is" and we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or error-free operation
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to lern.life in the 12 months preceding the claim

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate access to the platform:

  • You may close your account at any time via your account settings or by contacting hello@lern.life
  • We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these terms, with or without notice depending on severity
  • On termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. Data deletion will occur as described in our Privacy Policy
  • For institutional accounts, termination of the institution's subscription terminates access for all associated users

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The platform may contain links to third-party websites or integrations (for example, LinkedIn, GitHub, or job boards). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third-party services. Accessing them is at your own risk.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection law provides otherwise.

We encourage you to contact us at hello@lern.life before initiating any formal dispute, and we will make reasonable efforts to resolve concerns informally.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify you of material changes at least 14 days in advance via email or in-platform notification. Continued use of the platform after the effective date of any change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
